Extending a successful product suite: Eurex Micro-DAX Options now available

Eurex introduced the Micro-Futures Product Suite in April 2019 to cater to investors’ demand for smaller-sized futures. Since then, over 10 million contracts have been traded by 90 active members. In particular, the Eurex Micro-DAX® Futures developed positively, with volume increasing 150% YoY to over 30,000 contracts traded daily in 2022. The strong volume and liquidity increase reflects the market demand for micro derivatives.

“Thanks to the new Micro-DAX Options contracts, iBroker clients would be able to trade and hedge on the DAX products in a more efficient way. This last Eurex initiative confirms that futures and options, listed on exchange, is the right approach to all the retail investors for trading derivatives”.
Enrique Marti, CEO of iBroker

“We have seen a strong demand for Micro contracts over the years especially among the younger investors. The introduction of the new Micro-DAX Options to the product suite creates more choices for the Taiwanese clients to access the German market with a smaller contract size, and to apply different types of trading strategies.”
Edward Mao, CEO of Capital Futures Ltd.

Building on the success of the Micro-DAX® Futures, we launched the Micro-DAX® Options on 19 December 2022, which further enables investors to optimize their index exposure. With a multiplier of only EUR 1 per index point, they are a fifth of the of the regular DAX® Option contract. This makes them a very cost-efficient instrument, perfectly tailored to the needs of investors with smaller portfolios.

With this new addition to the Micro Product suite, professional investors have more opportunities to create granular trading strategies with the European benchmark products.
