Equity index futures on ESG indices: Tradability for participants in the U.S.

1.  Introduction

With effect from 1 June 2020, the following additional products will be activated for tradability in the U.S.:  

  • STOXX USA 500 ESG-X Futures (FSUS)
  • MSCI EAFE ESG Screened Futures (FMSF)
  • MSCI Japan ESG Screened Futures (FMSJ)
  • MSCI Emerging Markets ESG Screened Futures (FMSM)
  • MSCI USA ESG Screened Futures (FMSU)
  • MSCI WORLD ESG Screened Futures (FMSW)

2.  Required action

There is no action required for participation.

3.  Details

Eurex Deutschland has submitted an application for certification to the “Division of Market Oversight” of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to offer trading of MSCI ESG Screened Futures and STOXX USA 500 ESG-X Futures in the U.S. The CFTC has now certified these contracts so that they can be made available for trading in the US.

The corresponding new "capacity group" for the products is "CASH USD CFTC" (previously: "CASH USD"). According to Eurex Deutschland's registration as "Foreign Board of Trade", the MSCI futures and STOXX futures can be offered or sold to persons in the U.S. via Eurex terminals with direct access in the U.S. The multicast addresses for data distribution remain unchanged. However, the following changes have been made for the port numbers:

  • Snapshot messages: Change from 59032 to 59000
  • Incremental messages: Change from 59033 to 59001
