T7 Release 8.1: Important information for production start

Eurex Circular 044/20

1.   Introduction

Deutsche Börse Group will launch Release 8.1 of the T7 trading system on 29 June 2020.

The support window for T7 Release 8.1 will take place on Saturday, 27 June 2020, between 15:00 and 17:00 CEST. Connectivity testing during the support window is strongly recommended for all participants and Multi-Member Service Providers.

The circular outlines the most important topics for the go-live preparation that should be considered for the production launch of T7 Release 8.1 as well as details about the support window.

2.   Required action

With the introduction of T7 Release 8.1, all historical news messages will be removed from the system and will no longer be accessible via ETI or via GUI. Only the Eurex website www.eurexchange.com will show historical news. In order to avoid gaps or duplicate sequence numbers in the ETI news message stream and the corresponding retransmit message stream on the release introduction day, the sequence numbers of news messages will be reset to 1.

  • Participants must make sure that applications are able to handle the resetting of the news message sequence numbers to 1.

Further required actions:

  • Complete and return the production Readiness Statement not later than Friday, 19 June 2020 (see section F.)
  • Enter details of the technical contact person who will be available during the support window in the Member Section of the Eurex website under “Release contacts” (see section E.)

Important Reminder: Please note that a change of the partition ID and/or multicast addresses resulting from the split of the Money Market futures/options and ETF futures/options will take place in the T7 Production environment two weeks after the launch of T7 Release 8.1 on 13 July 2020, as announced in Eurex Circular 027/20/Eurex Readiness Newsflash from 5 June 2020. As a result, from this date a new scenario will occur for the EMDI Market Data interface in the production environment whereby two partitions, each with their unique SenderCompID (49), will be contributing to the same multicast address. Simulation capabilities are being provided in the T7 8.1 environment.

  • Participants/Vendors must ensure that their EMDI Market data applications are able to handle this new scenario.

3.   Details

Deutsche Börse Group will launch Release 8.1 of the T7 trading system on 29 June 2020. Please refer to the dedicated document “T7 Release 8.1 Final Release Notes” for a full overview of both the new and changed functional scope. The document is available on the Eurex website www.eurexchange.com via the link:

Technology > T7 Trading architecture > System documentation > Release 8.1 > Overview and Functionality

A.  Backward compatibility

T7 Release 8.1 is a mandatory release and will provide backwards compatibility for the T7 ETI/FIX interface versions 8.0 and 8.0.1, i.e. participants who do not want to use the new functionality will still be able to connect to T7 with the interface layout version 8.0 or 8.0.1, even after production launch of T7 Release 8.1.

Market data, RDI, reports, and data files will not provide backwards compatibility.

B.  Preparations for Friday, 26 June and Saturday, 27 June 2020

On Friday, 26 June 2020, T7 Release 8.0 will be in production for the last time. Reports for the business day 26 June 2020 can be expected at the usual time. On Saturday, 27 June 2020, Deutsche Börse will convert the T7 and T7/FX production systems to Release 8.1 and initial reference data for business day 29 June will be available via RDI and RDF following the start of the system in preparation for the support window.

C.  Support window for T7 Release 8.1 on Saturday, 27 June 2020

The T7 Release 8.1 support window will be conducted on Saturday, 27 June 2020, between 15:00 and 17:00 CEST. Connectivity testing during the support window is strongly recommended for all participants and Multi-Member Service Providers to ensure connectivity for the start of trading on Monday, 29 June 2020. Please make sure that a staff member will be available to perform the login to the T7 production system (e.g. T7 Trader and/or Admin GUI and third-party applications).

At this time, the Eurex T7 and T7/FX production system will be available for connectivity testing on the RDI, ETI, MDI, EMDI and EOBI interfaces and via T7 Admin GUI and T7 Trader GUI. The FIX gateways will be available for session login only (no other requests will be possible). No order and quote entries will be possible. Heartbeats via the market data interfaces will be disseminated.

The support window can be regarded as successful when

  • a message “Connection Test Eurex <hh:mm:ss>” appears with an increasing sequence number in the market news view (news board) of the T7 Trader GUI and the T7 Admin GUI.
  • a successful session or trader login via ETI has been performed.
  • MDI/EMDI/EOBI/RDI heartbeats have been received.

Deutsche Börse will inform participants about the general progress of the support window via implementation news on the Eurex website available under the link:

Technology > T7 Trading architecture > Implementation news

Following the end of the support window, the T7 8.1 production system will be shut down on 27 June 2020 at 18:00 CEST1  and will be unavailable until Sunday evening, 28 June 2020.

The FIX gateway will be shut down at 17:30 CEST.

D.  Monday, 29 June 2020 – Production start

The first trading day with T7 Release 8.1 will start at 02:15 CEST, as usual.

Please note: As the system will be re-started before Monday morning, the initial reference data file for the business day 29 June 2020 will be re-generated. As the reference data provided on 27 June 2020 via RDI and RDF prior to the support window may potentially contain some changes, participants are required to use the initial reference data provided following the system start for 29 June 2020.

Orders entered until 26 June 2020 (end of trading) but not executed, will continue to be available on 29 June 2020, unless other validity restrictions were set.

A list of any items that are relevant prior to the production start of T7 Release 8.1 will be provided as of 26 June 2020. This “known limitations” list will be available on the Eurex website under the link:

Technology > T7 Trading architecture > System documentation > Release 8.1 > Production
