In a recent speech, held at the Institute of International Finance, Deutsche Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann stated that Europe’s financial system needs market-based finance. He continued saying that unless banking becomes an industry that is more similar to others with regard to market entrance, exit, and power, further regulatory steps are necessary, especially in terms of resolving the “too big to fail” issue.
