Equity and equity index options: Adjustment of Market Maker Obligations

Effective 4 February 2013, quotation requirements for Market Makers in equity- and equity index options at Eurex will be changed with regard to minimum quote sizes and spread class assignments:

1. Resulting from Eurex’s regular Market Maker parameter review, adjustments of parameters in the two different Market-Making models, i.e. Permanent Market-Making (PMM) and Advanced Market-Making (AMM) will be made. Minimum quote sizes and spread class assignments are set according to market conditions and liquidity.

2. Changes to spread class 1 for equity index options:The lower boundary and the respective maximum spread will be changed from 15 to 25 index points and from 1.2 to 2 index points, respectively.

3. Market-Making schemes in options on Hochtief (HOT) and Synthes (SYST) will no longer be available. For options on Global PVQ (QCE) only PMM will be available. D.E. Master Blenders (DEM) will enter the AMM package “NL”. The number of exceptions remains unchanged for all packages.

Participants taking part in one of the Market-Making schemes are kindly requested to adjust their system settings accordingly. It is highly recommended to verify Market Maker performance in the first days after 4 February 2013, using the respective Eurex MMPM reports.
