Framework to confine Speculative Triggering: Final introduction of remaining measures

Eurex Circular 034/20

1.  Introduction

Eurex has decided to finally introduce the postponed elements of the measures to confine speculative triggering. These measures will be introduced in production on the following dates:

6 July 2020:   market data packet classification for partition 4
13 July 2020: discard IP addresses and market data packet classification for all remaining partitions

The introduction of the framework to confine speculative triggering had been announced with Eurex Circular 010/20, postponement of the above-mentioned measures was communicated with Eurex Circular 018/20.

2.  Required action

No actions are required.

3.  Details

Due to the COVID-19 crisis and extraordinary high volatility in March 2020, Eurex had decided to postpone elements of the framework to confine speculative triggering.

From Eurex’s viewpoint, volatility has come down throughout the last weeks and many participants have adjusted to the current travel and work restrictions, which resulted in a stabilisation of the overall situation. Eurex has therefore decided to introduce the last two measures to finalise the framework for speculative triggering.

To avoid any disruption, introduction will take place in two steps, as outlined in the table below:

Introduction in production

Measure

6 July 2020

  • market data packet classification, activation for partition 4

13 July 2020

  • discard IP addresses, activation for all partitions
  • market data packet classification, activation for all remaining partitions
