Eurex Circular 091/23 Money Market Index Derivatives: Amendments of the contract specifications for Options Contracts on Money Market Index Futures Contracts

1.  Introduction

The Management Board of Eurex Deutschland decided the following with effect from 30 October 2023:

  • Amendment of the trading hours for Options on Three-Month Euribor Futures and One- to Four-Year Mid-Curve Options

To implement the decision, the Contract Specifications for Futures Contracts and Options Contracts at Eurex Deutschland as well as the Annexes to the Contract Specifications for Futures Contracts and Options Contracts at Eurex Deutschland will be amended according to Attachment 1 and Attachment 2 of this circular. 

2.  Required action

Trading Participants are recommended to check their open orders and quotes in Money Market Index Derivatives with the start of trading on 30 October 2023 and are also recommended to pay close attention to the information included in the attachments and analyze the potential impact in their own technical systems. Therefore, it might be necessary for Trading Participants to update their internal processes and technical interfaces to adapt for this change. 

3.  Details 

Amendment of the trading hours for Options on Three-Month Euribor Futures and One- to Four-Year Mid-Curve Options

Eurex Deutschland will amend the trading hours and exercise times for non-quarterly expiries of Options on Three-Month Euribor Futures (Product ID: OEU3) and One to Four-Year Euribor Mid-Curve Options Contracts (Product IDs: OEM1-4) effective from 30 October 2023. 

The new trading hours and exercise times for expiring option contracts are detailed in Attachment 1 and Attachment 2. The trading hours on the last trading day of non-quarterly expiration months (outside the March, June, September, December cycle) in Options on Three-Month Euribor Futures as well as in One- to Four-Year Mid-Curve Options will be reduced from currently 17:15 to 16:15 CET. Exercises in these products will then only be possible until 17:00 CET, instead of until 18:00 CET. 

These measures are designed to better match market conventions in these products.
