With its extension to the repo segment at the beginning of 2019, the Eurex Partnership Program was aiming to increase repo transactions in the interbank market for European government bonds by offering more choice and efficiency for market participants in Special Repo and General Collateral instruments and to foster adoption and growth in the dealer-to-client repo business.

Looking back, the Partnership Program turned out to be a great success.

Not only has the Repo Partnership Program grown to 31 participants in 2019, but the volume figures in general were also more than satisfying:

  • 39 percent increase in average daily traded volume in Special and GC Repo
  • 41 percent increase in Bund Special Repo and
  • 17 percent increase in number of trades and a significant increase of quotes on the Eurex Repo F7 trading platform

For 2020 we are expecting further growth in Bund Special Repo and other markets as more clients are quoting on our trading platform F7.

Additional balance sheet netting possibilities between different market segments (GC Pooling against Special & GC Repo) will attract even more market participants and further increase trading activities on Eurex Repo in 2020.

If you want to hear more about our funding and financing please get registered for our GFF Summit in Luxembourg from 28 to 30 January. Together with my colleagues from Eurex and Clearstream, I’m looking forward to seeing you there!
