Dan Alderson, Editor of GlobalCapital unveiled the 2016 winners at the annual award gala dinner.
This year has been framed by the regulatory challenges on the derivative markets, with both mandatory clearing of some products coming into force as well as the margin rules for uncleared swaps. It is against this backdrop that GlobalCapital's 2016 awards recognise not only the overall excellent performance but also the initiatives of firms to adapt to some of the toughest challenges the market has faced yet.
Eurex won the award as 'European Exchange of the Year' for the second consecutive year - in particular for its strong equity index product portfolio, the volatility derivatives and the overall broad diversity to trade and hedge risk across nine traditional and alternative asset classes.
At the same time, Eurex Clearing was awarded as 'Clearing House of the Year'. Driven by the introduction of ISA Direct, the direct access model to the CCP but also the overall offering to cope with regulatory challenges, Eurex Clearing won the prestigious award for the first time
