The Guardian: Joseph Stiglitz on the problem with negative interest rates

In his article Nobel Prize winner Joseph Stiglitz, economist and a professor at Columbia University, points out that “In none of the economies attempting the unorthodox experiment of negative interest rates has there been a return to growth and full employment”. In his opinion central banks should be focusing on the flow of credit, which means restoring and maintaining local banks’ ability and willingness to lend to SMEs.
