Our Deutsche Börse (DBG) colleagues from the Singapore office joined the Association of Persons with Special Needs (APSN*) team for our annual DBG Social Day event, on 24 June 2016. This year, DBG decided to conduct a half-day acrylic painting session supported by the APSN and the Visual Arts Centre Singapore. Acrylic painting activity was chosen as it combined both the fun and educational elements catered for the group of young people with special needs. The results prove that this worked perfectly well.

The Visual Arts Centre, a newly established Singapore gallery, supported the good cause by providing two art instructors who guided the participants through the painting session. With the help of the instructors, 20 APSN members, paired with 30 DBG volunteers, managed to complete their paintings within the given short timeframe.
We are pleased to support the Social Day event by coordinating the creative acrylic painting experience. It was interesting to see how both the DBG and the APSN teams worked together to complete an artwork of their favourite photographs and subject references.
– Iola Liu, Director of Visual Arts Centre
We are happy to have DBG as our corporate volunteer. This event creates is a perfect opportunity for our APSN members to interact with the community and learn about acrylic painting. We look forward to working with DBG on their next Social Day event.
- Nicholas Ho, Community Project Executive of APSN
The Social Day event was introduced in alignment with the DBG Corporate Responsibilities strategy for the firm and staff to take on more social responsibilities. Also, the participants from all parts of the Deutsche Börse Group (360T, Clearstream, Eurex, Market Data & Services, and Market News International) found doing such a meaningful charity event a great team building exercise.
I could still remember the satisfied smiles on the APSN members’ faces as they carried their paintings in their hands. This event made me understand that there are in fact many ways that we can contribute and care for the people with special needs.
– Cindy Tan, Office Manager, 360T
One of the objectives of this event is to encourage our DBG staff to be involved in our DBG Corporate Responsibility social activities to understand the importance of their contribution to the society. Another objective is to educate APSN members on acrylic painting, which might help them in their preparation of entering the workforce and becoming an integrated part of society.
