Eurex Clearing
![]() | Eurex Clearing held its third annual conference series in Frankfurt, Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam and London throughout May and June, drawing over 300 attendees from the sell and buyside. This year's conference focussed not only on listed and OTC derivatives clearing but also on securities funding and financing services. |
Mitigate the impacts of regulations
The multitude of new regulations are significantly increasing capital requirements and the demand for collateral while at the same time reducing supply - all of these factors creating liquidity and cost pressure on market participants. The conference aimed to address these issues, specifically what Eurex Clearing can do as an integrated CCP to help members and their clients mitigate the impacts of these regulations.
Risk weighted average and leverage ratio
Starting out with a presentation about what the new capital rules mean for the derivatives and securities financing business, the first panel discussion with industry representatives covered the challenges of the new regulatory environment and its impact on capital and liquidity. Risk weighted average and leverage ratio were two terms that were much debated about in all locations.
Securities lending and repo use a single collateral management engine
The second presentation focussed on how the integration of clearing for derivatives - listed and OTC - with securities lending and repo using a single collateral management engine not only delivers capital efficiencies but also can help optimize the use of cash and securities. This was followed by a panel discussion with our colleagues from Eurex Repo and Clearstream where the focus lay on how using an integrated CCP can help optimize the management of collateral in the changing regulatory environment.
The conference ended with a networking cocktail reception where the conversation continued over some refreshments.
We would like to thank all of our panelists as well as everyone who attended the conference. If you have any questions or would like to provide feedback, please contact us on Eurex-ClearingRelations@eurexclearing.com.
