Since we were very confident right from the start that our ESG futures introduced in Europe in February 2019 are much more than a trend it is a clear yes from our side.
Based on European STOXX benchmarks, the futures cover ESG exclusions, low carbon and climate impact and aim at helping market participants address the challenges and opportunities of sustainable investing.
Following the success of the first launch, we added ESG options based on the STOXX® Europe 600 ESG-X Index in October 2019 and achieved the milestone of half a million traded contracts on 12 December.
To further enhance our strong position in the ESG segment and as part of the second phase of our ESG strategy, we will roll out derivatives on various global, pan regional and regional ESG index benchmarks starting in February 2020.
Alongside the launch of STOXX® USA 500 ESG-X index futures that will complement the existing STOXX® product suite, the new products will use MSCI’s ESG-screened index family. These will cover USA, World, EM, EAFE and Japan regions. The extended offer will be available before the March 2020 roll.
Learn more about our ESG strategy at the upcoming Derivatives Forum on 27 February 2020 in Frankfurt. Save the date!
